Incident Date:    11-7-2005

Synopsis:

On November 7, 2005 Kendall Bolden and Elliott Mitchell in a scheme to rob a would-be cocaine buyer met with Terrance Reid in a shopping center @ Cobb Parkway and Spring Road.  Mr. Reid testified that Mr. Bolden and Mr. Mitchell pulled guns on him as he got into their truck to exchange money for drugs.  Mr. Reid came to the deal with $10,000 which was in a duffle bag.  He was robbed of both money and jewelry.  Mr. Reid stated he tried to jump out of the truck as Mr. Bolden started to drive out of the parking lot. Mr. Mitchell hit him with the gun causing the gun to fire.  The bullet passed through the truck’s rear windshield striking Shelly Williams as she stood from reaching into the backseat floor of her car.  Ms. Williams remains paralyzed from the waist down.

On Monday, April 23, 2009 Kendall Bolden entered a non-negotiated plea of guilty to: Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault 2 counts., Theft by Taking, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime 4 countts.  Sentencing of Mr. Bolden will be at a later date.

 

Elliott Mitchell who proceeded with a jury trial was found guilty of: Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault 2 counts., Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime 4 counts., and Theft by Taking.  Mr. Mitchell was sentenced on Friday, March 27, 2009 to Life plus 45 years.

 

Superior Court Judge Stephan Schuster presided over the trial.
