Welcome to the homepage for the District Attorney of the Cobb Judicial Circuit.  There are 49 judicial circuits in the State of Georgia and therefore only 49 District Attorneys.  The larger circuits are comprised of only one county, but most of the judicial circuits contain more than one county.  I hope this web site will give you the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services this office provides.

As the chief law enforcement officer for the Cobb Judicial Circuit, the District Attorney is responsible for the prosecution of felony and misdemeanor offenses that occur within Cobb County. However, most misdemeanor offenses, unless coupled with a felony offense, are prosecuted by the Solicitor General for the State Court of Cobb County.

If you imagine law enforcement, the courts, and social service agencies as intersecting roads, the District Attorney can be compared to the traffic director standing in the middle.   Please explore my website and learn more about the programs and services. We have tried to make this web page as user friendly as possible. If you have any suggestions or if you or your organization would like to join in these efforts, please do not hesitate to contact me

Prosecution

As the chief prosecuting attorney for the Cobb Judicial Circuit, it is my job to promote public safety through the effective prosecution of criminals who commit serious and violent crimes. With a staff of over 100 people, we work with the court and law enforcement communities every day to prosecute nearly 8,000 cases a year .

These cases involve homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, robbery, drug sales, drug possession, fraud, theft, child molestation, rape, and many other offenses.

We also make appropriate and effective use of alternative punishment and rehabilitation options for first-time offenders of lesser crimes through such programs as DIVERSION and the DRUG TREATMENT COURT.

Under Georgia law, all felony cases must be handled by the Office of the District Attorney.

Victim Services

Victim services is also a top priority for my administration. Each victim or witness of a crime is assigned a specially trained advocate to provide support in the immediate aftermath of the crime and provide critical assistance throughout the court process..  The majority of the expenses for this service are NOT paid for by the tax payers, but are paid by defendants through a surcharge added to fines.

Thank you for visiting.
