PATRICK H. (PAT) HEAD
Education
Honors graduate of Southern Technical Institute (now Southern Polytechnic University) receiving both an Associate's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering Technology.
Juris Doctorate degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1978
He received specialized legal training at Northwestern University School of Law and has completed the Career Prosecutor's course at the National College of District Attorneys. He has also completed the Executive Program for Prosecution Leadership and has completed additional training at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia S.C.
Business and Management Experience
Associate Engineer and group leader with an international telecommunications engineering company.
Assistant Operations Manager, Operations Manager and Manager of Marketing Support with an international telecommunications manufacturing and sales company.
Legal Experience
a. Member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1978.
B. Engaged in the private practice of law until his
election as Solicitor for the State Court of Cobb
County in 1984.
C. Served as Solicitor from January 1985 through December 1992.
D. Served on the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia (PAC),
E. Served as President of the Solicitor's Association of Georgia
F. Instructor for the Basic Prosecutor's Course conducted by the PAC
G. Returned to private practice
January 1993 until election as District Attorney in
July 1998 in a special election.
Currently
serving as a
member of the State Board of Public Safety representing the District Attorney's
Association;
member of the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia,
Military Experience
Joined the military in 1965 and served aboard the USS INDEPENDENCE (CVA-62) completing a nine-month deployment in the Mediterranean Sea. Received Honorable Discharge in 1971.
Church, Civic and Charitable Experience
Served for two terms as chairman of the administrative board at his United Methodist Church. Member of The Gideons International.
Former member of Kiwanis. Served on the board of
directors for the Cobb Boys Club. Has worked with the Girls Club, March
of Dimes, and Leukemia Society, Co-chair of the American Cancer Society 2004
Swordsman's Ball, serves on the advisory board for United Way in Cobb County,
member of Cobb Chamber of Commerce and co-chair of the 2004 Cobb Chamber Public
Safety Appreciation Committee.
Has received the:
Trumpet Award presented by the Cobb County Republican Women’s Club
Victim Services Award as Outstanding Prosecutor from the Crime Victim’s
Advocacy Council
Illuminating Hope Award from Safe Path Children’s Advocacy Center
